This is a professional accounting position acting as a liaison between a small staff of high-level finance and treasury generalists that handles collection of taxes, fees, permits, penalties general ledger, accounts payable, purchase order, and assisting in monitoring the financial operation  and City budget.  An employee in this position provides administrative support to the Deputy Finance Director/Deputy Treasurer and assists in the overall management of the department and performed other duties as assigned




-        Assists in the collection of taxes, special assessments, fees, permits and other city revenues.

-    Assists in aspects of front counter operations, phone call and office duties as needed.

-        Review all daily receipts by general ledger from various departments, balance daily receipts with the monies received/deposit slips prior to appending the daily transactions, and maintain records of daily receipts

-        Responsible for depositing daily collections to local banks

-        Process applications for deferment, bankruptcies and complete related data entry and paperwork

-        Assist in preparing the departmental budget by providing recommendations on the Treasury division's needs

-        Bank reconciliations

-        General ledger reconciliations

-       Works with Finance Director/Treasurer and Deputy Finance Director/Deputy Treasurer in preparation of Budget Documentation, reports, data retrieval, chart and graph preparation.

-        Works with Finance Director/Treasurer and Deputy Finance Director/Deputy Treasurer in the preparation of annual audit and comprehensive annual financial report

-        Cross train new Clerk-Treasury Generalist

-        Prepare correspondence as necessary

-        Assist in Grants accounting

-        Acts as Treasury Department petty cash and change custodian.

-        Special projects and reports as required by Finance Director/Treasurer and Deputy Finance Director/Deputy Treasurer




A Bachelor's Degree in accounting or a related field from an accredited college or university and five years of experience in an accounting position or any equivalent combination of experience and training that would provide the following knowledge, skills and abilities:


-        Knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles and governmental accounting principles and practices and the ability to apply these accurately

-        Knowledge of governmental laws and regulations and the ability to interpret and apply laws to a variety of financial transactions

-        Ability to utilize the computer system and related software packages, excel, word, power point, and adobe Acrobat

-        Ability to gather and analyze data and prepare timely and accurate financial reports

-        Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing

-        Ability to effectively act as a Liaison to supervise accounting generalists.

-        Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with coworkers, other department's personnel, and the public
